Why we LOVE this product!
There's something timeless about building a little boat and watching it sail, and HABA's cork kit makes it easy and eco-friendly. Cork is light and nearly unsinkable, so success is almost guaranteed, which is great for young builders.
It's a natural doorway into buoyancy experiments, too: what happens if you add a pebble, a leaf, or a passenger?
Two things to weigh: it's a small boat, and outdoor water play always needs supervision. For a summer or bath-time project, it's a delight.

The HABA Terra Kids Cork Boat is a DIY kit for building a floating boat from compressed cork granules, with a mast, sail and a long hemp cord so kids can sail it on water and pull it back.
What's inside
- A compressed-cork boat hull, about 9 x 4 x 1.75 inches
- Wooden mast and parts
- A hemp cord about 118 inches long
- An instruction booklet with ideas for adding natural materials
How it works
Assemble the boat in a short time, then decorate or expand it with things found in nature, like leaves or sticks, using ideas from the booklet. Float it in the bath, a stream or at the beach and use the cord to bring it back.
What kids learn
- Buoyancy: why cork floats and what happens when you add weight
- Building and design: assembling and customizing the boat
- Nature play: collecting materials and playing by water
- Fine motor skills: fitting parts and tying cord
