About
Melissa & Doug
Melissa & Doug was founded in 1988 by Melissa and Doug Bernstein, a husband-and-wife team who wanted to create meaningful toys that inspire children's imaginations. Starting with a focus on hands-on play and classic wooden toys, the company grew into a widely recognized brand known for products that invite children to explore, create, and discover through their own ideas.
The brand's philosophy centers on purposeful, open-ended play. Its toys encourage children to take the lead, whether they're preparing an imaginary meal, running a pretend shop, building a world of their own, solving a puzzle, or experimenting with art materials. These everyday adventures give children opportunities to practice creativity, develop problem-solving skills, build confidence, and learn through experience.
Melissa & Doug offers a wide variety of products, including wooden toys, realistic pretend play sets, puzzles, arts and crafts, and developmental activities. Thoughtful details and durable designs help make play engaging and encourage children to return to their favorite toys in new ways as they grow.
With a commitment to screen-free play, quality, and sustainability, Melissa & Doug believes that some of the most valuable learning happens when children are free to imagine, experiment, and follow their curiosity.
