Why we LOVE this product!

This is a Hanukkah game that isn't just spinning a dreidel. Everyone plays at once, so there's no waiting for a turn, and the challenge cards add the kind of silliness that makes kids ask for another round.

Counting up and down at speed is sneaky number practice for younger players.

Two things to weigh: it's brand new for 2026, so there's little feedback yet, and speed games can frustrate the youngest players at a table of older siblings.

Dizzy Dreidel is a fast Hanukkah card game from Hootenanny Games where everyone plays at the same time, racing to be first to get rid of their cards, with silly Hanukkah challenge cards like Leaning Latkes and Donut Dash thrown in.

What's inside

  • 71 cards, including number cards and challenge cards
  • Rules

How it works

Everyone plays at once. Play cards that go up by one, play a matching number to switch direction and count down, and use the challenge cards whenever you like. The first player out of cards wins. A game takes about 15 minutes.

What kids learn

  • Number sense: counting up and down by one at speed
  • Quick thinking: spotting a playable card before anyone else
  • Family play: a game that works across ages

About

Barnes & Noble

Barnes & Noble traces its roots to 1873, when Charles M. Barnes began selling books from his home in Wheaton, Illinois. In 1917, his son William joined G. Clifford Noble in New York to establish Barnes & Noble. The company entered a new chapter in 1971, when bookseller Leonard Riggio acquired the Barnes & Noble name and flagship store, beginning a period of growth that would help shape the modern American bookstore.

Under Riggio's leadership, Barnes & Noble expanded across the country and introduced its distinctive superstore concept, bringing together an extensive selection of books with a welcoming atmosphere where customers could browse, discover new interests, and spend time exploring. The stores also expanded beyond books to include educational toys, games, music, and gifts.

Today, Barnes & Noble continues to connect readers and families with stories, ideas, and new discoveries through its bookstores and online shop. Its range extends from children's picture books and young adult fiction to puzzles, games, creative toys, and collectibles. By bringing reading together with opportunities for learning and play, Barnes & Noble remains a destination for families looking for inspiration, entertainment, and thoughtful gifts.
