Why we LOVE this product!
Wooden blocks are one of the few toys that a child plays with from their first birthday right through the early school years, and this set is a lovely version of the classic. The mix of arches, cylinders and roof pieces gives kids more to work with than plain cubes, and the colors are bright without being garish.
We also like that it's plastic-free and comes with its own bag, which makes tidy-up quick.
Two things to weigh: it costs more than basic block sets, and at 60 pieces it's a starter set rather than a huge collection. For a gift that will be used for years, it's money well spent.

Le Toy Van's Colorful Building Blocks are a 60-piece set of painted rubberwood blocks in a fabric storage bag, made for stacking, building and open-ended play from 12 months up.
What's inside
- 60 wooden blocks in a mix of shapes, including cubes, rectangles, cylinders, arches and triangular roof pieces
- A fabric storage bag
How it works
There are no instructions to follow. Babies and toddlers stack and knock down, preschoolers build towers, houses and castles, and older kids use the blocks for small-world play with figures and vehicles.
What kids learn
- Early engineering: balance, stability and what happens when a tower gets too tall
- Spatial awareness: fitting shapes together and planning a structure
- Fine motor skills: grasping, placing and balancing blocks
- Problem solving: rebuilding when something falls down
- Early math: sorting by shape and color, counting and comparing sizes
Good to know before you buy
- Age: safety tested for 12 months and up.
- Materials: rubberwood with water-based, chip-resistant paint, and no plastic.
- Weight: the set weighs about 2 kg (4.4 lb), so the bag is handy but not light.
- Value: $69.95 for 60 pieces is more than basic unpainted blocks, but you are paying for the finish, design and a set that lasts for years.
Who it's for
Babies, toddlers and preschoolers, families building a first toy collection, and anyone looking for a classic, long-lasting gift.
