Why we LOVE this product!

Drawing in 3D with candy sounds like a gimmick until you see a child decorating a cookie with it. The 3Doodler Candy takes the same idea as a 3D printing pen and makes it edible, so kids learn to think in layers and shapes while making something they can eat.

We like that 3Doodler built this version specifically for kids: it's lighter and smaller than the Chef pen, rechargeable, and designed without exposed hot parts.

Two things to weigh: you'll need to buy refills, and the candy sets fast, so it takes a little practice before results look polished. For a creative kid who loves the kitchen, it's a memorable gift.

Description

SKU:

CANDYCHEF

The 3Doodler Candy 3D Pen is a kid-sized, rechargeable 3D pen that draws with edible isomalt candy, so children can decorate cookies and crackers or build small candy shapes. It's 3Doodler's family version of its 3Doodler Chef pen, designed for ages 8 and up.

What's inside

  • 1 3Doodler Candy pen
  • 1 USB-C charging cable
  • A 3.5 oz (99 g) bag of candy capsules in five colors
  • An activity guide with 6 projects

How it works

Turn the pen on, pull back the ring and load a candy capsule (it holds up to two). When the light turns green, hold the button to extrude melted candy, which sets in about 2 to 3 seconds. It's battery powered, with about 45 minutes of use per charge.

What kids learn

  • 3D design and art: thinking about shapes in layers, the same idea behind 3D printing
  • Fine motor control: steady hands and timing, because the candy sets fast
  • Kitchen creativity: decorating treats and making edible art
  • Patience: working slowly and trying again when a joint doesn't hold

Good to know before you buy

  • Age: 8 and up. 3Doodler says the pen has no external hot parts and the candy comes out just above body temperature, but let the nozzle and candy cool before touching.
  • Ingredients: the capsules are isomalt and water with plant-based colors (beet, beta-carotene, turmeric and grape). The label says they may contain sulphites and milk, so check if anyone has allergies.
  • What to draw on: use parchment or a silicone mat, and sturdy snacks like hard cookies, crackers, pretzels or dried fruit.
  • Refills: you'll need 3Doodler candy refills once the starter bag runs out.
  • Cleaning: soak only the nozzle in hot water; never submerge the pen.
  • Value: $59.99 direct from 3Doodler.

How it compares

The 3Doodler Chef is the grown-up version, rated 14 and up. The Candy pen is smaller, lighter and made for kids, which makes it the better pick for families.

Who it's for

Kids 8 and up who love baking, art or gadgets, families who enjoy decorating cookies together, and anyone looking for a unique holiday gift.
