Why we LOVE this product!

Flags are an easy way into geography: kids already notice them, and each one has a story. This book uses that curiosity well, moving from facts to puzzles to a final project where kids design a flag that follows real design rules.

The 120-plus stickers make it feel like an activity, not homework.

Two things to weigh: once the stickers and puzzles are used it's done, so it's one per child, and it isn't a full atlas of every country's flag.

Description

SKU:

FCP042

All About Flags Awesome Activity Book is a 72-page paperback that introduces kids to vexillology, the study of flags, through facts, mazes, games and brainteasers, and ends with kids designing a flag of their own.

What's inside

  • 72 pages of facts and activities that get harder through the book
  • Over 120 flag stickers
  • Cut-out materials
  • Instructions for designing your own flag
  • An answer key at the back

How it works

Two young apprentices, Gea and Tom, learn from a flag expert named Ben. Kids follow along through flags from around the world, the features flags have in common and the design mistakes to avoid, solving puzzles as they go, then put it all together to design their own flag.

What kids learn

  • Geography: countries and their flags
  • World cultures: what colors and symbols on flags stand for
  • Design: the principles that make a flag simple and memorable
  • Problem solving and memory: mazes, brainteasers and games

Good to know before you buy

Who it's for

Kids who collect facts about countries, spot flags at the Olympics or World Cup, or love maps. A useful, inexpensive add-on for a geography lesson or a stocking.

About

Fat Brain Toys

Fat Brain Toys was founded in 2002 by husband-and-wife team Mark and Karen Carson in Elkhorn, Nebraska. The idea grew out of a search for more toys to complement a magnetic construction set their son Adam received for his tenth birthday. Finding the selection online limited, the family saw an opportunity to help parents discover a wider variety of interesting, thoughtfully designed toys.

What began as a small home-based business grew into an established toy company with its own range of products, alongside toys selected from other innovative makers. Fat Brain Toys developed a reputation for offering alternatives to conventional mass-market toys, with an emphasis on products that encourage children to explore, experiment, build, and solve problems.

The company's philosophy centers on the idea that play can be both enjoyable and enriching. Its collection spans everything from early-learning toys and sensory playthings to construction sets, puzzles, and challenging games. Family involvement has remained part of its story, with the next generation contributing to product design and innovation.

Fat Brain Toys aims to make discovering great toys easier for families while encouraging children to develop curiosity, creativity, and confidence through play.
