Why we LOVE this product!
Sun prints are a wonderful mix of nature walk, art project and chemistry lesson. Kids collect leaves and flowers, arrange them, and a few minutes of sunshine turns the paper into a striking blue print they can frame or give as a gift.
It's also an easy science fair starter: test which sunscreen or sunglasses block the most light.
Two things to weigh: you need a sunny day, and results vary with how long the paper sits out. For a low-cost, high-wow outdoor activity, it's hard to beat.

WSUN-600
Steve Spangler Science Nature Print Sun Paper is light-sensitive paper that makes white-on-blue prints of leaves, flowers and other objects using nothing but sunlight and water.
What's inside
- 30 sheets of 5 x 7 inch sun-sensitive paper
- Instructions and science fair ideas
How it works
Arrange objects on the paper, set it in the sun for a couple of minutes, then remove the objects and rinse the paper in water. The covered areas stay white, the rest turns blue, and the rinse fixes the print permanently.
What kids learn
- Light-sensitive chemistry: how chemicals react to sunlight, the same idea behind film photography
- Nature study: collecting and arranging leaves and flowers
- The scientific method: testing sunscreens or sunglasses by how well they block the light
- Art and design: composing a print

About
Discount School Supply
Discount School Supply began with a small retail store selling educational products. Founder Ron Elliott recognized that teachers needed access to a broader range of classroom materials and creative resources, inspiring him to find ways to make those products easier to obtain. In 1985, he expanded the store's reach by producing a 16-page, black-and-white catalog devoted to arts and crafts supplies. This catalog marked the beginning of Discount School Supply as a dedicated educational supplier.
From the start, the company's goal was to offer quality products at affordable prices while providing dependable, helpful service. As the business grew, its selection expanded well beyond arts and crafts to include science and math materials, sensory resources, dramatic play equipment, classroom furniture, and supplies for early childhood education.
Today, Discount School Supply serves teachers, schools, childcare centers, and other educational organizations through its online store, catalogs, and classroom planning resources. Its offerings are designed to support a wide range of learning environments, from preschool classrooms to elementary programs.
The company's founding commitment remains central to its approach: helping educators access the materials they need to create engaging, enriching experiences for children while balancing quality, value, and service.
