Why we LOVE this product!

Math clicks for young children when they can touch it, and this set gives them plenty to touch. Rings, sticks and number tiles let kids build "3 + 2" with real objects before they ever see it on a worksheet.

We like that it grows with a child: toddlers can stack and sort, preschoolers can count, and early elementary kids can lay out equations in the tray. Everything packs back into a tidy wooden box, too.

Two things to weigh: there's no published age or detailed activity guide, so you'll set the pace yourself, and the small pieces need supervision with younger kids. For hands-on number practice, it's a thoughtful buy.

The Math Path from Asweets' Wonder and Wise line is a wooden math manipulative set for counting, color matching and building simple equations, all stored in one sliding-lid box.

What's inside

  • 43 tiles with numbers and equation signs
  • 44 colored counting sticks
  • 64 colored counting rings
  • 4 ring stacking pegs
  • A removable equation tray
  • A wooden storage box with a sliding cover

How it works

Younger children start by stacking rings on the pegs and sorting by color. As they grow, they count rings and sticks to match number tiles, then lay out equations in the tray, from simple addition up to multiplication.

What kids learn

  • Counting and one-to-one correspondence: matching a quantity to a numeral
  • Early operations: seeing addition, subtraction and multiplication with real objects
  • Color sorting and patterns: a natural first step for toddlers
  • Fine motor skills: stacking rings and handling small sticks

Good to know before you buy

  • Age: the maker says it suits very young through older children but doesn't publish a minimum age. With small rings and sticks, we'd treat it as 3 and up.
  • Lesson ideas: there's no detailed activity guide on the listing, so parents may want to look up simple counting games to get started.
  • Value: $40 at Maisonette (listed with a $69 compare-at price at the time of writing).

Who it's for

Preschoolers starting to count, early elementary kids practicing number facts, Montessori-style homes and homeschool families.
